Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Start&Grow gives business advice and guidance to people starting or running a business in the United Kingdom, through this website at startngrow.co.uk.
This site is operated by Start&Grow, a business advisory service based in the United Kingdom.
We are the data controller for the information described in this policy, and we handle it in line with UK data protection law.
If you have a question about your information, email hello@startngrow.co.uk.
2. What we collect
What you tell us. Your name, business name, email address, phone number if you give one, and whatever you write in the contact form or when you book a call.
Information about your business. Figures, plans, documents or background you send us so we can answer your question properly. You choose what to send.
Booking and payment records. The date and time of your call and a record that payment was taken. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider. We never see them and we do not store them.
Technical information. Your IP address, browser type, device, and which pages you looked at. This comes from the site’s own logs, and from analytics where it is switched on.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Answering your enquiry — our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- Delivering a booked call and the written summary — performance of our contract with you.
- Taking payment and keeping accounting records — performance of our contract, and our legal obligations.
- Keeping the website secure and working — our legitimate interest in running a functioning site.
- Sending you emails about our services — only where you have asked for them. You can withdraw that at any time.
We do not sell your information. Sending us an enquiry does not put you on a marketing list.
4. Sensitive information
We do not ask for special category data such as health, ethnicity or political views, and there is no need to send it. Please leave it out unless it is genuinely relevant to the question you are asking.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the suppliers who help us run the business, and only as far as they need it. They act on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.
- Our website host and email provider
- The contact form plugin used on this site
- Our booking and payment provider
- Our accountant, and our professional advisers where necessary
- Anyone we are required to disclose to by law, or by a court
6. Where your information is held
Some of our suppliers hold data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens we rely either on UK adequacy regulations covering that country, or on an International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work — 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records, notes and call summaries — six years after our last piece of work for you.
- Accounting and payment records — six years, as HMRC requires.
- Marketing consent — until you withdraw it.
- Website logs and analytics — up to 26 months.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- Delete it, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
- Restrict what we do with it while a question is being sorted out
- Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
- Stop using it, where we are relying on our legitimate interests
- Withdraw your consent, where consent is what we relied on
Email hello@startngrow.co.uk and we will reply within one month. There is no charge.
9. Cookies
This site sets a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work, for example to keep forms secure and remember your preferences. Where analytics is enabled, those cookies tell us which pages get read and how people arrive, in aggregate.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the essential ones may stop parts of the site working.
10. Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiries and client files is limited to those who need it. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.
11. Other websites
Where we link to another site, that site has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for it.
12. Children
Our service is for adults running or starting a business. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
14. Complaints
Tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
